31 Days of Joy: Take a Leap of Faith

“You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage
to lose sight of the shore.”

Take a leap of faith.

What is a leap of faith? While it may be true that people use this phrase in different ways, it seems that there is one way in which it is generally used. For many, a “leap of faith” is a willingness to believe something, even if they have their doubts about it. As believers, God has called us to take leaps of faith in our lives. God wants us to trust Him when making decisions, even if we are not completely sure of the outcome. We don't have to be worry or fearful if God tells you to do something, because when we jump, we know that we step into the arms of Jesus. Have you ever watched a small child at a swimming pool? The small child is at first reluctant to jump into deep water. but when they see that one of their parents is in the water with arms outstretched, they know that they have nothing to fear and will gladly and even eagerly jump because they totally trust their parent to catch them! The same concept applies in life when we are taking leaps of faith and trusting God to protect and guide us. Know for certain in your heart that God exists. Become convinced that His word is true. Be fully assured that He will keep His promises. Once you have this kind of faith, act upon it, and live by it. We do not need to take a leap of faith to become a Christian; we simply just need to “walk by faith” and trust God in every decision to help us become who He has called us to be. God will reward you for your obedience, and you will learn how to begin to trust Him more and more.

Focus Scriptures:
2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Joy in Action Today:
Pray and ask God to help you to step out of your comfort zone. Talk to Him about what you are concerned about. Ask Him to give you strength to try new things.
