31 Days of Joy: Think Encouraging Thoughts

Think encouraging thoughts.

What you think about does matter. As believers, we have the power to discipline our minds to think uplifting and joyous thoughts. If you want to stay positive, you are going to have to think positive. God has given us scriptures on how to keep a positive attitude. We need to ask the Lord to "wash" our hearts and "renew" our minds to think only His positive, good thoughts. He promises us that the more time we spend meditating on His Word, the more we will see His benefits in our everyday lives and even grow to have a closer relationship with Him. If you are continually thinking about the goodness of God, you won’t have any time to dwell on negative thoughts that may get you down and discouraged. Even positive thinkers deal with disappointing situations. The difference between being discouraged or keeping your joy is to learn to not let things and circumstances change your mood, but instead enjoy life no matter what happens. Make up your mind to work toward changing your way of thinking. Stop yourself at every negative thought, and counteract it with a positive one. The best way to become a positive thinker is to ask God for help—and to ask for it often.

Joy in Action Today:
Practice thinking uplifting and encouraging thoughts. Write down your favorite scriptures, and meditate on them throughout the day.
